Wraps are inspired by burritos, and therefore sometimes fall into the Tex-Mex category. Usually they are made with a thin flour tortilla. But now they are also being made with a wide range of other types of packaging, and some are especially good news for those who want to eat fewer carbohydrates. In that context, today we will present a few of the best salad wraps that you can try to make yourself.

It is believed that salad wraps are inspired by yabrak, sarma or dolmer (made with vine leaves or cabbage). We do not know anything about that, but we know that the filling is mainly made of vegetables and fruits. Sometimes it also contains legumes, to give them a nutritional boost.

Let’s take a look at some great recipes for these wraps.

  • Thats it!

3. Mini spinach wraps with goat cheese

The following recipe is so easy to make that you do not have to be in the kitchen for more than 10 minutes in total. So if you want a quick snack, this recipe is a great option. They also act as a fantastic starter or as an accompaniment. However, since the spinach leaves are small, remember not to overfill them, otherwise you will not be able to make them into wraps.

We do not give you exact amounts in the recipe because it will depend on how many people you are cooking for.

One last tip, as we said: Do not use too much filling in each leaf. You can always add more if you want, but it is not so easy to remove the excess.

Ingredients

  • Spinach leaves
  • Goat cheese
  • Black pepper
  • Grated apple (optional)
  • Honey (optional)

Instructions

  • First, wash and dry the spinach leaves.
  • Then add a little black pepper to the goat cheese, as well as honey if you like that flavor.
  • Next, take a spinach leaf and add a spoonful of the cheese and spread it in a line along the center of the leaf. This way, it will not smoke out when you roll the blade into a wrap.
  • To add apple, use only a teaspoon or less in each of these salad wraps.
  • Use a toothpick to prevent them from falling apart.

Salad wraps can be eaten cold at any time of the day. They are low in calories and easy to make – which makes them the perfect choice for people who do not really cook that much, or who just do not have time.

The secret lies in the proportions of the filling in relation to the lettuce leaves and how much sauce you add. It can get pretty messy if you add too much, but of course you can add as much as you like!
