Three natural remedies for hives

Hives are a very common skin disease that causes red, swollen and itchy rashes on the skin that are very irritating. But have you ever heard that there are natural remedies for hives?

It is one of the most common skin diseases (dermatosis). Women are more likely to suffer from hives than men. However, they mostly happen after adolescence, but can of course affect people of all ages. When you press them, they do not disappear (that is, they do not blanch), as may be the case with other swellings.

The itching that you experience may actually extend over the entire inflamed area. This means that you can get bumps and swellings all over your body. The damage usually disappears on its own within a few hours, but can still be a major nuisance in the meantime.

As we have already stated, itching is the most bothersome symptom and thus the factor that most often needs to be treated.

Causes

When you have an allergic reaction to a substance, the body releases histamine and other chemicals into the bloodstream. This causes itching, swelling and other symptoms. Swelling or urticaria is a common and frequent reaction.

Angioedema is the name of the inflammation in the deeper tissues that sometimes occurs with urticaria. As with hives, angioedema can occur anywhere on the body. When it occurs around the mouth or throat, the symptoms can be severe and even cause blocked airways, which can be dangerous.

Symptoms

The main symptom is itching along with red bumps. When the marks from the swelling are larger (up to 20 cm wide), the central areas tend to have a lighter color and will also form rings.

Usually when an outbreak of hives occurs, it disappears on its own again. In fact, a swelling can last for several hours somewhere, then disappear and then appear elsewhere. Before experiencing so-called cutaneous symptoms, you will often notice:

  • Lost appetite
  • Discomfort
  • Headache
  • Joint pain
  • Abdominal pains
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
